Heworth next up for the Blue and Golds

The Blue and Golds will entertain Heworth this Saturday (2.30pm kick-off at the Leisure Centre).
The York outfit, although in Division 3 pre-lockdown making them the lowest ranked team  team in Grouo G, are still expected to provide a stern test.
They appear to be a club on the rise, coming to town fresh from a 38-4 win against Myton Warriors. Founder members of the NCL back in 1986, they dropped out of it, rebuilt in the Yorkshire League before re-entering the NCL in 2019.
Ahead of the fixture, Tony Spence commented ” I am aware of the ambitions of Heworth but I am not phased by it. Last week against Acorn, we again defended well but we were not smart enough with ball in hand. This week in training we have worked on our last play options. Our kicks towards the full back and wingers need to be more effective. We also need to up our completion rates to around 85%. Although we defended well against Acorn we had to do too much defending. ”
On the team news front, there will be a couple of precautionary changes. Louis Hubbard and Alex Calvert took minor knocks last week and will get the week off. Sam Coleman and Francis Coggle are expected to step up to the plate.
